Hi alex,
we're very curious if there's any news about the band? Is there still no new singer? Is there an optimistic view for the future? What are the plans for the moment? ...

We've always support you and the rest of the band. It would be great to hear a bit of news these days...

Homepage changed.

I didn't had that feeling until now, but I’m afraid it will be difficult to replace Geike... I hope they also search in foreign countries!

But I'm happy they're working on new projects and hooverphonic will stay!

Hi Ruben!

I'm happy too. If they have came back to work (after a rest that follows a tour), I think that means they're plenty of mood to go on with Hooverphonic! Very Happy

So, this means they still haven't found a new singer... I guess the girl Alex had in mind didn't fit the picture

Hi Guys,

Don't worry. We are working on it. I wrote a lot of songs with a lot of singers. It's difficult to choose! For the moment I'm a bit too busy with my solo project off coarse!

Alex and Raymond. I think it's great that you are doing interesting new projects. But, I fear that if you leave it too long your fan base will have moved on.
I have moved back to the UK after 7 great years in Belgium. I was so impressed by Belgium's music scene. And the pinnacle for me was Hooverphonic. "Wake Up" was the first song that really got to me. After that I bought everything you ever did. I would listen for hours.
I played them to to my English friends that became equally impressed.
However, I have to admit that we did find "The President..." a little less accessible. Nothing wrong with that!! But the trouble is you write intelligent pop that, at its best, could sell all over the world. "The President..." was wonderful, but is very far from showing your mass appeal. HPH really could take on the world if you really went for the great pop that you write so well.
Your back catalogue should be being plundered by bands all over the world. You really need to hit the charts outside Belgium again. You would be huge. Once people then discover your past work you will become massive.
There is always the danger of self indulgence where one just does what interests oneself. That is fine. But it is the easy option. One can duck out of the really hard work of writing hit records. One can hide behind the label "interesting" projects. Please don't get lost there!! That is fine for OLD bands that have made it REALLY big. But you are a great band that should be world conquering!!
Please, please, please go for the heights with the next album. And soon!! Leave it too long and it is hard to grab back popularity.
The choice of the next vocalist is SO important. This is going to be the front person of the next stage of your career.
I hope you take my words for what they are....from a real fan that truly loves the band and only wants the best. Some bands suit being small and underground. Your fabulous song writing deserves to reach its full potential.
The very best of luck from your English fans that love you all.
(And best wishes to Geike)!!

I think Dyson has a point.

I know you don't have to reach world popularity to be great and Hooverphonic make no exception Smile, but I agree that they deserve more praise for their wonderful work.

Most of all love Hooverphonic *also* because they're no "chart band", although I came into them listening to Mad About You... without that song, I would have never found out all the sweet music of this awesome band Razz

This no matter of money and charts and album sales: the thing is, it's so hard to discover really good music like Hooverphonic's, even in the digital era and everything, and it's such a shame.
I live in Italy and charts are full of "mainstream" music, which sometimes is very good, and lots of times really bad. I remember Hooverphonic bringing so much class and fresh air on the music scene in 2000, Italy really liked them (and still does).

Now they have a fanbase here too, not huge maybe, but very faithful and enthusiastic Rolling Eyes I don't listen to charts and radio anymore as I used to, but it's always a pleasure to see your favourite band getting played and being praised by dj's and audiences around you.

Plus, being an Hooverphonic huge fan brought other good music along Razz

I.e., I got curious about artists somewhat connected to them such as Lunascape, Ozark Henry, Sutrastore, Sarah Bettens and Liesje Sadonius (of course), all of them now in my fav list along with Hooverphonic Cool

I was saddened that they were mainly known for their more accessible albums because I especially love the less accessible ones Wink , but I hope they come back soon with a bang, as they say.

There's no chance your audience will *ever* forget you, so take your time and try to make the good, inspired music you always make... but remember we all hope to hear from you very soon...

WE MISS YOU, that's the truth Very Happy

(No pressure meant of course Wink)

Geikecane expresses all our wishes. We want you to succeed. I look at inspirations of the band like Goldfrapp and Fiona Apple. They are on tv all over the world whilst HPH are still holed up in Belgium. I have no problem with Belgium...I adored my time in that fantastic country. But it is too small for such potential alone.
Here is Fiona Apple doing my favourite Elvis Costello track "I want you" (from Costello LP Blood and Chocolate). It sounds so HPH.

Please Alex, give us a real all out HPH at its most emotional and powerful for the next album. But please make it soon!! Not for me or the fans on the forum. But for you and the band. As I was leaving Belgium I felt that the love affair of the locals with HPH was fading. You could turn that round in an instant.

As always, my very very best wishes

Neutral

I think Hooverphonic was something more similar to Mike Oldfield and that electronic-chill wave!
